Additional Programs at SMS

  • Sacramental Preparation: Our 2nd Grade Catholic students and their families participate in preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Students prepare in the classroom, as a part of their Faith and Formation curriculum; parents attend special evening or Saturday sessions scheduled throughout the school year. Our 2nd grade Catholic students celebrate these sacraments for the first time in Spring.

  • Worship Families: Students from each grade year (K-8) form worship families and attend weekly Mass together, providing a sense of connection across the grade levels.  Students practice and model grace and courtesy, care for one another, and build self confidence and esteem in their multi-age relationships.

  • Choir: Members of our student church choir practice weekly after school to prepare and present the liturgical music for our Saint Mark 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. This is a beautiful service to the entire Community of Saint Mark .

  • Altar Servers: Students in grades 5-8 may train to become altar servers at daily and Sunday Mass.

  • Student Store: Our 4th Grade class manages a student store providing “essential” pencil/pen/paper supplies to their schoolmates!

  • ROARR! Students from all classes are encouraged to submit articles for review and publication in our student newsletter.

  • LPN: The Lion Pride Network is a closed circuit network enabling students to produce and broadcast special interest stories about the people of SMS to every classroom.

  • Yearbook: The annual yearbook publication enables students to work with teacher and parent advisors to produce a wonderful pictorial remembrance of the year!

  • Student Council: 8th Grade Student Council officers are elected at the end of the prior school year, and lead the school and elected room representatives in global and community service, school spirit and special projects throughout the year. Our Student Council sponsors “Jeans Day” each month to raise money for special mission work.

  • Musical Productions: Thanksgiving and Christmas provide two of our many opportunities for school-wide musical performances. The annual Spring musical is a tradition that celebrates the talent and community spirit of Saint Mark!
